Rampant Consumerism

I just got one of these:

I've always thought they were the coolest looking kitchen appliance, and I've always wanted one.

The thing is; I don't bake. I mean hardly ever; and when i do, it's mostly packages of Brownie mix from Trader Joe's. So this thing is probably gonna get very little use at all.

Still, it looks damn cool....

GPS Update

I love my GPS! I wonder why I didn't get one sooner.

The trip to Pennsylvannia went badly and it went well. Going down it wanted me to go on I-95, through New York. Since that's the way I went the last two times, I thought why not. Well, it's not a good idea to go through New York at about 4pm on a Friday. Learned that lesson well!

But we got to the destination; even if it was about two and a half hours later than expected.

Coming back everyone had different advice on how to go, and I ended up going north to 84. 'Gertie' wasn't too happy about that; though I pretended to go somewhere else at first, as soon as I said I wanted to go Home she tried to make me go east to I-95. I didn't want to do that, and kept ignoring her advice to 'take the next exit' (at one point she wanted me to take the next exit and turn around and go back to the last exit! Forget that.

And then she got so confused that she generated an error and was unable to calculate a route. We both stewed on that for a while, and then about an exit on I reset her and 'ta da!' she gave me a route that was more to my liking!

Most of the time I find that for around home I prefer my own routes to the one's she can come up with (they aren't bad, but she has no aversion to travelling down Mass Ave., which I will avoid if I can. However, she also found a better route to a couple of places that I go to infrequently.

And it's kind of nice to know that if you do get lost, Gertie is there now to provide directions; even if they are only on how to get home!
